The story of Cabaret takes place in a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920鈥檚 draw to a close. A garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the CABARET. With the Emcee鈥檚 bawdy songs as wry commentary, CABARET explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin鈥檚 natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fr盲ulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally鈥檚 boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered Jewish fruit seller.
There is an ADVISORY to potential audience members that the material presented is 鈥渁dult in nature鈥 and includes language, violence, drug use, and sexuality that may not be suitable for all audience members. No children under 10 will be admitted.
The book was written by Joe Masteroff inspired by the play written by John Van Druten, and stories by Christopher Isherwood. The music was composed by John Kander, with lyrics by Fred Ebb. CABARET is presented by arrangement with TAMS-WITMARK MUSIC LIBRARY, INC., 560 Lexington Avenue, New York, New York 10022
