From September 15th to October 15th, we hosted a variety of free workshops, cultural activities, and performances for students and the local community.
A Month-Long Celebration of Culture, Identity, and Resilience
From thought-provoking workshops to lively cultural activities, 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month at 黑料社 invites students, faculty, and community members to come together in celebration and reflection. Through the Todos Unidos series, we honor Hispanic culture, identity, and the legacies that continue to shape our world.

Honoring Life, Love & Legacy: D铆a de los Muertos Community Ofrenda Pay tribute to your loved ones by contributing to our Community Ofrenda鈥攁 collective altar that celebrates life, memory, and cultural tradition. Bring a photo of someone you wish to honor; we鈥檒l provide the frame and decorations to help you create a meaningful offering. The ofrenda will be on display in the Viking Grill October 24th through November 4th as a space for remembrance, reflection, and community connection. |

Discover the rich cultural practices of D铆a de los Muertos and its observance across Latinx communities. Learn how to create traditional calavera makeup to celebrate the spirit of the holiday. The first 40 student attendees will receive a DIY D铆a de los Muertos kit to create their own personal altars. After the workshop, enjoy a D铆a de los Muertos-themed movie to continue the celebration. -

Join us as we learn about the Bracero Program (1942-1964), which brought Mexican farm and railroad workers to the United States, shaping industries and local economies. This talk will explore how the contributions of the Latinx community in 黑料社 have shaped the area鈥檚 history.
